Chapter 2 — Surface Cleansing
They didn’t go back the way they came.
There was no “way” anymore.
The structure adjusted.
Opened.
A path—
if it could be called that—
formed upward.
Not carved.
Granted.
Seras didn’t question it.
She stepped into it.
The others followed.
Because at this point—
this was no longer exploration.
It was execution.
The ascent felt shorter.
Not because it was.
Because the system wasn’t resisting anymore.
It was—
cooperating.
That was worse.
They emerged where the city had broken.
The empty intersection.
The edge of the consumed zone.
But it wasn’t empty anymore.
Movement everywhere.
Not chaotic.
Not scattered.
Organized.
The infected population had shifted.
The unstable ones—
gone.
Replaced.
What remained were—
functional.
Not human.
Not animal.
Units.
Ace took one look—
and understood.
“You didn’t just fix the core.”
Seras stepped forward.
The air changed with her.
“No.”
A beat.
“I gave it direction.”
The nearest cluster reacted.
Not by attacking.
By aligning.
They turned.
All of them.
Toward her.
Shammy felt it ripple.
“They’re all connected.”
Mai:
“Single behavioral layer.”
Ace:
“Meaning one command.”
Seras didn’t answer.
She raised her hand.
Slow.
Deliberate.
And the entire field—
stilled.
Every creature.
Every movement.
Every possible action—
paused.
The city held its breath.
Seras spoke.
Not loud.
Not dramatic.
Final.
“Stop.”
They obeyed.
No hesitation.
No delay.
Total compliance.
Ace exhaled.
“Okay.”
A beat.
“That’s new.”
Seras lowered her hand slightly.
Her gaze moved across the field.
Not randomly.
Assessing.
“Unstable variants are gone.”
Mai nodded.
“Confirmed.”
Seras:
“These are viable.”
A pause.
“For now.”
Shammy stepped forward.
Still slower than before.
Still not entirely—
herself.
“They’re quiet.”
Seras:
“Because they’re waiting.”
Ace looked at her.
“Waiting for what.”
Seras turned.
Just slightly.
“Instruction.”
That landed.
Because now—
this wasn’t containment.
This wasn’t cleanup.
This was ownership.
Ace’s voice dropped.
“And what exactly are you planning to tell them.”
Seras’ expression didn’t change.
“The truth.”
She stepped forward.
Into the center of the street.
Into the middle of a population that no longer acted on its own.
And for the first time—
she didn’t look like a CEO.
She looked like—
something older.
Something that had ruled before systems like this even had names.
“You are no longer uncontrolled.”
The words didn’t echo.
But they spread.
Through the field.
Through the connection.
Every unit—
reacted.
Not visibly.
Structurally.
“You do not expand.”
A pause.
“You do not reproduce.”
Another.
“You do not leave this boundary.”
The entire population locked.
The command embedded.
Not suggestion.
Law.
Mai watched closely.
“Hard constraint.”
Seras:
“Necessary.”
Ace crossed her arms.
“And if they break it.”
Seras turned.
Met her eyes.
“They won’t.”
A beat.
“But if they do—”
Her voice didn’t rise.
Didn’t need to.
“They cease.”
Silence.
Shammy felt the weight of it.
“That’s not containment.”
Seras:
“No.”
A step forward.
“That’s control.”
The field remained still.
Perfectly still.
Then—
one unit moved.
Just slightly.
A twitch.
Ace saw it.
Immediately.
“Seras—”
But Seras had already turned.
Her hand lifted—
a fraction.
And the unit—
collapsed.
Instantly.
No struggle.
No delay.
The rest—
did not move.
Because now—
they understood.
Seras lowered her hand.
“That’s enforcement.”
Silence.
Heavy.
Mai nodded.
“System stable.”
Shammy exhaled.
Slow.
“For now.”
Ace looked around.
At the frozen field.
At the city that was still—
technically—
intact.
“So we’re just… leaving them like this.”
Seras answered without hesitation.
“Yes.”
A beat.
“Because this is the only version of them that doesn’t break your world.”
That was the truth.
Cold.
Clean.
And completely unacceptable—
to anyone who didn’t understand what the alternative had been.

→ Chapter 3 — Foundation Check (Foundation palaa kuvaan, ja kysymys: hyväksyvätkö he tämän ratkaisun)
Nyt tulee se poliittinen / rakenteellinen törmäys.
Sanot vaan 😄
Hah. Nyt tulee se osa missä kukaan ei ole tyytyväinen — ja silti tämä on paras mahdollinen lopputulos.
