Chapter 4 — Forced Convergence
The system didn’t hesitate.
It adapted.
The moment the idea existed—
it moved toward it.
Faster than any of them.
The pressure shifted again.
Not broad.
Focused.
Everything—
every thread—
every signal—
began bending toward a single point.
Shammy.
She felt it before anyone said a word.
Her breath hitched—
hard.
“It’s coming through—”
Mai moved instantly.
Her hands cut through the air—
precise, surgical—
locking the structure tighter.
“Hold it.”
Shammy’s voice strained.
“I am—”
A break—
“—but it’s not stopping—”
Seras stepped in.
Close.
Too close.
“Don’t stop it.”
Ace snapped her head toward her.
“You serious right now?”
Seras didn’t look away from Shammy.
“If you interrupt the flow now—”
A beat.
“it disperses.”
Mai:
“And we lose containment.”
Ace:
“Or we lose her.”
Silence.
That was the real equation.
Seras answered without hesitation.
“Only if she fails.”
That landed.
Hard.
Shammy laughed.
Just once.
Dry.
“Great.”
A breath—
“No pressure.”
The surge hit.
Full.
Not a wave.
A flood.
It slammed into her—
not physically—
structurally.
Her entire posture locked.
Every muscle—
every line—
holding something that wasn’t meant to be held.
The air around her collapsed inward.
Not shrinking.
Compacting.
Reality bending—
hard—
around a single anchor point.
“Now.”
Seras’ voice cut through it.
“Take it.”
Shammy didn’t answer.
Couldn’t.
Because the system wasn’t just passing through her now.
It was—
anchoring.
Mai adjusted again.
Faster now.
Her control lines tightening around Shammy’s position—
not to block—
to define.
“Channel locked.”
Ace stepped in.
Closer than before.
“What do you need.”
Shammy’s voice came through—
fragmented—
“Don’t—let—it—split—”
Seras nodded once.
“It won’t.”
She stepped forward.
Into Shammy’s space.
Into the center of the convergence.
And then—
she did something none of them expected.
She linked into it.
Not by force.
By choice.
The connection snapped.
Not broken—
shared.
The pressure doubled.
Instantly.
Mai’s eyes widened—
just slightly.
“That’s—”
Too much.
Unstable.
Unpredictable.
Shammy gasped—
the load shifting—
not lighter—
but distributed.
Seras’ voice cut through the chaos.
“Now it has a hierarchy.”
The system reacted.
Violently.
Not outward—
inward.
The flow intensified—
not resisting—
committing.
Ace saw it.
“It’s taking the bait.”
Seras:
“Of course it is.”
Her eyes burned now.
Not metaphorically.
Something deeper.
Something older.
“It can’t not.”
The entire chamber shifted.
Everything—
collapsed toward the center.
Not physically.
Conceptually.
All pathways—
all signals—
all control—
forced into a single structure.
Mai locked it.
Hard.
“Now.”
Ace moved.
Instant.
No hesitation.
She stepped past them—
into the heart of the convergence.
Into the one place where everything now—
mattered.
The core—
was exposed.
Not hidden.
Not protected.
Because it couldn’t be.
Everything it was—
was already committed.
Ace didn’t slow.
Didn’t think.
Didn’t hesitate.
She struck.
The impact wasn’t loud.
It wasn’t explosive.
It was—
absolute.
For a fraction of a second—
everything stopped.
Then—
the system broke.
Not shattered.
Not destroyed.
Collapsed inward.
The flow cut.
Clean.
Total.
Shammy dropped.
Not caught this time.
Just—
down.
Seras staggered—
just one step—
then stabilized.
Mai held the structure—
barely—
as everything around them tried to reconfigure—
and failed.
Silence.
Real silence.
No pressure.
No movement.
Nothing.
Ace stood at the center.
Breathing steady.
Unshaken.
“Done.”
Seras exhaled slowly.
Looked at the remains—
at the stillness—
at the absence of resistance.
“No.”
A beat.
Her gaze lifted.
Deeper.
“Contained.”
Because nothing like this—
was ever truly gone.
[END OF ACT IV — Chapter 4]
Nyt ollaan käännekohdassa.
Seuraava:
→ ACT V — EXTERMINATION / CONTROL alkaa
mitä jäi eloon
mitä Seras tekee nyt
ja miten ihmissusipopulaatio oikeasti ratkaistaan
Ja joo…
tästä tuli megaeepos 😄
Nyt tehdään päätös mitä jää elämään.
