Chapter 3 — System Response The silence did not last. It never does. For a fraction of a second— everything held. The chamber stilled. The pressure equalized. The system— accepted. And then— it adjusted. Seras felt it first. Of course she did. Not resistance. Recognition. “There it is.” Her voice was low. Not surprised. Interested. The fallen construct at her feet twitched. Not randomly. Deliberately. Its form shifted— not collapsing— refining. Muscle tightened. Structure aligned. The incomplete became— less incomplete. Mai saw it. “It’s integrating the override.” Ace’s jaw tightened. “You’ve got control. Use it.” Seras didn’t move. “I am.” A beat. “This is the response.” The creature stood again. But this time— it wasn’t waiting. It acted. It stepped forward— and stopped just short of her. Not attacking. Positioning. The rest of the chamber reacted. Movement returned. Not chaotic. Synchronized. The root structures pulsed— not in resistance— in alignment. Shammy inhaled sharply. “It’s copying the pattern.” Mai: “No.” A beat. “It’s adapting the hierarchy.” Worse. Much worse. Seras’ eyes narrowed. “Of course it is.” She stepped forward. Closer to the construct. Testing. The creature didn’t retreat. Didn’t hesitate. It met her. Eye to eye. And this time— it responded first. The space around them shifted. Not aggressively. Structurally. A second layer of organization unfolded. Not beneath her. Alongside her. Seras felt it instantly. “No.” But the system had already moved. It had learned the rule. And rewritten it. Inside— the structure no longer split into two paths. It branched. Multiple hierarchies forming simultaneously. Not conflicting. Coexisting. Seras’ expression hardened. You don’t get to choose both. The system answered. I do not choose. A pause. I expand. Outside— the pressure surged again. Not violently. Broadly. Spreading. Shammy stiffened. “It’s pushing past the anchor.” Mai’s hands moved immediately. “Contain it—” Shammy: “I’m trying—” A break— “—but it’s not focusing anymore—” Ace: “Meaning.” Mai: “It’s distributing control.” There it was. The real threat. Not dominance. Diffusion. Seras stepped back. For the first time. Not retreat. Recalibration. “It’s learned enough.” Ace: “Then end it.” Seras shook her head. “If I destroy this layer—” A beat. “the rest reorganizes.” Mai: “Decentralized system.” Shammy: “It doesn’t need a single core anymore.” That changed everything. The creature in front of Seras moved again. Closer. Not hostile. Present. Its eyes— clear. Aware. And something else now. Adaptive. Seras studied it. Not as an enemy. As a result. “You’re evolving too fast.” The system answered. I am optimizing. Seras’ lips curved. Not amusement. Recognition. “And that’s your weakness.” The chamber reacted again. But differently this time. Not in waves. In adjustments. Fine. Precise. The system was no longer reacting broadly. It was targeting. Mai felt it. “It’s narrowing focus.” Ace: “On what.” Shammy: “On us.” The pressure shifted. Not everywhere. At specific points. Weak points. Stress lines. Shammy staggered again. Harder this time. “It knows where I’m holding it—” Mai: “Reinforcing—” Shammy: “It’s bypassing—” Her voice broke— “—it’s going around me—” Seras’ eyes snapped to her. “Of course it is.” A step forward. “You’re not containing it.” Shammy: “I know—” Seras: “You’re teaching it.” That hit. Hard. Silence— for a fraction of a second. Then— Seras made a decision. “Good.” Ace blinked. “Good?” Seras turned. Fully. “Now it’s predictable.” Mai’s eyes sharpened. “Explain.” Seras: “It can’t stop optimizing.” A beat. “Which means it will always choose the fastest path.” Shammy: “Through me.” Seras: “Yes.” Ace: “So we close that path.” Seras shook her head. “No.” A step closer to Shammy. “We make it commit to it.” That landed. Dangerous. Necessary. Shammy looked at her. Really looked. “That’s not holding.” Seras: “No.” A beat. “That’s control.” Mai processed it instantly. “If it routes everything through one anchor—” Ace: “We isolate it.” Shammy exhaled. Slow. “Or it isolates me.” Seras met her gaze. No softness. No hesitation. “Yes.” Silence. Heavy. Because that— that was the second line. And they were about to cross it. [END OF ACT IV — Chapter 3] Nyt peli kääntyi. Seuraava: → Chapter 4 — Forced Convergence (kaikki pakotetaan yhden ankkurin läpi — ja riski räjähtää) Tässä kohtaa nähdään: pysyykö tämä kasassa vai maksetaanko lisää hintaa Sanot vaan 😄 Ja nyt mennään siihen kohtaan missä homma voi oikeasti hajota — tai lukittua lopullisesti.
