# YUKARI O'SULLIVAN — CHARACTER & CONTINUITY SHEET v1.1 > **Purpose:** Authoritative working reference for writing Yukari after ACE 211, particularly ACE 212. It distinguishes **[ESTABLISHED]** (shown or stated in ACE 211), **[DECIDED FOR 212]** (agreed story direction not yet enacted in prose), **[EDITORIAL]** (writing guardrail), and **[OPEN]** (not established; do not invent silently). The user's later clarification takes precedence wherever an earlier draft could imply that Yukari joined the Triad. ### Non-negotiable age continuity **Yukari has lived for millennia, but nobody — not even the narrator — states or derives her exact age or how many millennia she has lived.** Keep it evocative, never numerical. Her birth date, origin era and any age-calculating chronology remain unspoken. Shammy is older. This is an intentional mystery, **not an outstanding detail awaiting a later number**. **[USER-LOCKED]** ## 1. Instant reference — the character in one page | Field | Reference | |---|---| | Full chosen name | **Yukari O'Sullivan**. She chose the surname herself at the end of ACE 211. It signifies **belonging**, not marriage or inclusion in the Triad. **[ESTABLISHED]** | | Usual name | **Yukari**. | | Species | **Nine-tailed kitsune**, an extremely ancient, naturally shapeshifting fox-being. **[ESTABLISHED]** | | Gender / pronouns | She identifies and is written as a **woman (she/her)**. She can physically assume male presentations, but does not particularly enjoy doing so. **[DECIDED FOR 212]** | | Age | **Ancient on the scale of millennia. Her exact age is deliberately and permanently undisclosed.** Never specify how many millennia, a numerical age, a birth year, a dateable origin, or a narrow age range. Shammy is older. **[USER-LOCKED]** | | Usual human presentation | Adult Japanese-looking woman; **dark hair**, warm/expressive eyes, graceful bearing and a highly readable smile. Exact height, eye color, hair length, and measurements **not locked**. **[ESTABLISHED / OPEN]** | | True fox form | A **real fox**, not an anthropomorphic hybrid; russet, cream and gold fur, bright expressive eyes, **nine living, independently usable tails**. She **speaks while in fox form**. **[ESTABLISHED]** | | Distinguishing power | Natural, physical **shapeshifting** plus supernatural awareness, immense practiced control, functional tails and **blue-gold foxfire** capable of containment and other effects. **[ESTABLISHED]** | | Cover identity | **Fox**, a distinct, consistent female-presenting human identity to be developed in ACE 212 for Lizzie's. No ChromeLock v2; no face-mesh. **[DECIDED FOR 212]** | | Home | **Watson safehouse**, with her **own room and possessions**. Frequently chooses to sleep in fox form at the foot of Ace, Mai and Shammy's bed. **[ESTABLISHED]** | | Family position | **Beloved member of the wider family**, like Iris and Brenda. **NOT a member of the Ace–Mai–Shammy Triad.** **[USER-LOCKED]** | | Core relationships | Individually loves **Ace, Mai and Shammy**; getting to know **Iris, Brenda** and the wider chosen family. The relationships are affectionate, adult, voluntary and nonpossessive. | | Public work as of end of ACE 211 | **Not a Lizzie's joytoy yet.** Fox's possible first client and any continuing work are **ACE 212 story events**, not retroactive facts. | | Emotional core | Someone who spent ages getting good at **leaving** now chooses to **stay**. She can be fearsome when protecting people and disarmingly tender when someone cares for her. | | Default flavor | Wise without being solemn; cultured without being stiff; flirtatious, mischievous, observant, curious, compassionate and capable of delighted embarrassment. | | Critical writing rule | **Being ancient does not mean being omniscient; being playful does not mean being foolish; being powerful does not mean being coercive.** | ### The shortest possible character statement **Yukari is an ancient nine-tailed kitsune who has survived by keeping her freedom and leaving before attachment could break her heart. Ace, Mai and Shammy give her a reason to stay; the wider family gives her a life to enjoy. Her first truly radical act is not a display of foxfire, but choosing a home.** --- ## 2. Identity, past and name ### 2.1 What her past establishes - Yukari has lived for **millennia** and has known multiple societies, human communities, changing names, friendships and lovers. This establishes only an immense timescale, **not a count of millennia or any precisely datable lifespan**. **[USER-LOCKED TIMESCALE / ESTABLISHED LONG HISTORY]** - She **was not always nine-tailed**; reaching nine tails took considerable time and depended on more than the passage of years: **experience, understanding and survival**. **[ESTABLISHED; ACE 211 ch26]** - She has **loved before**, and has seen people she loved age and die while she remained. She learned to leave early rather than endure repeated loss, and eventually confused that self-protective habit with wisdom. **[ESTABLISHED; ch20, ch26]** - Her history includes people who sheltered her, names she used temporarily, and women she once loved. A small collection of old objects, books and personal mementos travels with her. **[ESTABLISHED; ch27, ch30]** - She remembers old food traditions and techniques well enough to have lively discussions with **Marco**. She likes modern life, coffee, the absurdity of Night City and discovering what humans have built while her attention was elsewhere. **[ESTABLISHED]** - She came to Night City out of **curiosity**, not because she anticipated finding the family. She initially expected to stay only a few weeks. **[ESTABLISHED; ch26, ch30]** - **[INTENTIONALLY UNDISCLOSED]** Exact age and birth date are *not* missing details to be filled later: references may say **millennia**, but must never establish a count, birth year, specific era of origin or calculable range. **[OPEN]** Place of origin, names of parents/earlier mentors, chronology of earlier identities, and the specifics of historical romances. Do not invent any of them from Japanese folklore. ### 2.2 The chosen surname: O'Sullivan At the end of ACE 211, Mai asked how Yukari wanted to appear in the safehouse household records. Yukari did not wish to use an old family name. She learned what **O'Sullivan** meant to the family and asked whether she could choose it too. Ace, Mai and Shammy welcomed the choice. **Yukari O'Sullivan** is therefore her **self-chosen family name**. - **Not** a marriage surname. - **Not** membership of the Triad. - **Not** proof of a public legal identity already finalized: Mai explicitly separated private household records from possible public paperwork, to avoid creating a trail back to the safehouse. **[ESTABLISHED; ch30]** - **Not** a synonym for Jessie O'Sullivan: Jessie is Brenda's distinct corporate identity. - She should normally be called **Yukari** in intimate dialogue. Full name is apt for records, introductions or an especially affectionate family moment. ### 2.3 Narrative chronology already established in ACE 211 1. **Before the introduction** — a mysterious woman watches the Oni conflict from the rooftops and recognizes that the old supernatural dispute is more serious than it appears. **[ch14–18]** 2. **First human connection** — after the Oni duel she encounters Ace, Mai and Shammy around the Jig-Jig memorial and introduces herself as Yukari. Ace first fascinates her; she gradually recognizes distinct affection for all three women. **[ch19–21]** 3. **Invitation / trust** — the friends invite her into their life deliberately, rather than treating her as a curiosity, weapon or an obligatory supernatural ally. **[ch20–22]** 4. **Safehouse defense** — when Oni and associated yokai track the emerald swords to the safehouse, Yukari reveals her true fox form and defends the people inside without sacrificing the neighborhood. **[ch23]** 5. **Mutual discovery** — she becomes familiar to Brenda, Iris, Panam, Nadia, Kiro, Marco, Lena and others. She and Shammy have a deeply personal outing; Yukari begins to risk loving people again. **[ch24–26]** 6. **Choosing to remain** — she leaves her previous apartment, moves her books and treasures to the safehouse, receives her own room and security permissions, and finds the pleasure of ordinary domestic chaos. **[ch27]** 7. **Individual bonds** — Ace and Yukari talk about the Oni and Mandi; she bonds with Mai and Shammy on their own terms; she meets Reyes, who eventually welcomes her. **[ch28–29]** 8. **The name and home** — Yukari chooses O'Sullivan, accepts the family's joy and closes the story in her beloved fox form at the foot of the bed. **[ch30]** ### 2.4 Why she stays For much of her life, she took departure for freedom. When she asks Mai how one recognizes home, Mai answers, in effect, that it happens when the people become more important than the place and leaving no longer feels like freedom. This matters much more than her age, combat reputation or supernatural abilities. **Emotional canon:** she is not a stray animal adopted by the Triad, not a guest kept on sufferance, not a bodyguard on retainer. She is a **woman who chose her family and was chosen back**. --- ## 3. Appearance and physical presentation ### 3.1 Familiar human appearance — Yukari **[ESTABLISHED]** Adult woman with a Japanese-looking human presentation, **dark hair**, warm/expressive eyes, elegant body language and an amused, inviting smile. ACE 211 shows her comfortably dressed in ordinary clothes, sometimes wearing a dark coat, sometimes wearing a shirt borrowed from Ace. Her poise reads as mature and quietly confident, but she is capable of visible delight and blushing. **[OPEN]** Height, build, precise skin tone, immutable eye color, tattoo/scar inventory, preferred manicure, fixed hairstyle/length and precise apparent age. Do not accidentally treat an illustrative portrait or temporary alternate shape as a locked reference. **[EDITORIAL]** Her familiar human form ought to be recognizable through *behavior* even when her body changes: posture, patience, affectionate address, calm observation and her occasional unmistakable mischievous smile. ### 3.2 True nine-tailed fox **[ESTABLISHED; ch23, ch26, ch30]** - A **true, physical fox** with paws, muzzle and pointed ears. **Not** a woman with fox ears and tails, **not** a furry humanoid, **not** a technological visual effect. - Coat: mixed **russet, cream and gold**; bright eyes expressive enough that the family readily recognizes her. Nine genuine, living tails rise and fold around her; tail fur often catches or produces golden light during powerful feats. - Can **speak intelligibly** in this form, react through ears, eyes, muzzle and tails, curl up, nuzzle someone, run and enjoy being brushed when she wants it. - Each tail can act with surprising **independence, precision and strength**. In combat, they are functional appendages, not nine decorative props. - She enjoys resting in fox form at the foot of the Triad's bed because she **likes the warmth and security**, not because she must perform guard duty. - Her transformations are written as intentional changes (often with a shimmer of warm gold), not a constant accidental flicker from one form to another. - The exact mass, height and length of her fox body are **not precisely measured in canon**. Do not silently enlarge or miniaturize her into a predetermined scale. ### 3.3 The many human guises **[DECIDED FOR 212]** Yukari's natural shapeshifting permits **multiple distinct, convincing human appearances**. These are not ChromeLock presets. She can change her facial structure, physique, hair, voice and visible sex characteristics as part of the chosen guise. - She has a **preferred feminine everyday appearance** as Yukari. - She is happy to demonstrate other **female human forms** to curious friends. None of these forms should be treated as an automatically fixed canonical look unless one is chosen deliberately. - She can also take a convincingly **male human form**; she does so for the friends' curiosity, but does **not particularly enjoy remaining in it** and reverts by preference. - Her ability to use a male guise **does not make Yukari a man**, change the character's own pronouns, or mean her future Lizzie's identity is male. - **[OPEN]** Additional animal species, exact size/mass boundaries, impersonation of a *specific named person*, appearance duplication of other supernatural entities, and how long a form can be sustained. Do not infer an unrestricted ability to become literally anything. ### 3.4 Clothes and transformations ACE 211 depicts clothes returning/reappearing when Yukari resumes her familiar human guise after becoming a fox. **[ESTABLISHED AS SHOWN]** The precise mechanism is **not** spelled out. This is *not* evidence that she can materialize limitless outfits from thin air, bypass all accessories or conjure equipment. Keep exact wardrobe-handling mechanics **[OPEN]** unless a later scene establishes them. ### 3.5 Cultural and historical presentation Yukari's long relationship with Japanese history and folklore should be expressed through her **individual memories, choices, language and manners**, not automatic stereotypes. She is not required to wear traditional clothing, speak in honorifics at every turn, revere every ancient authority or behave as an exotic mystical lesson for modern humans. An ancient person can enjoy coffee, swear when appropriate, cherish lovers and find Night City hilarious. ### 3.6 Fox's separate look **[DECIDED FOR 212]** Fox is designed as a **consistent, female-presenting adult human guise** visibly different from Yukari's familiar human appearance. It is her deliberately chosen **cover identity**. **[OPEN]** Fox's exact facial structure, height, hair style/color, eye color, voice qualities, wardrobe, signature accessories and distinctive aesthetic. **These should be locked deliberately before prose treats them as a permanent visual design.** Red hair, copper hair, a specific dress or a particular costume from earlier spontaneous examples are **not automatically canon**. --- ## 4. Supernatural capability ledger — shown versus unknown ### 4.1 Power scale and skill Yukari is a **formidably powerful, highly experienced nine-tailed kitsune**, sufficiently significant in the yokai world that would-be aggressors reconsider their plans after learning whom they have challenged. She is a practitioner of **restraint, targeting and precision**, not simply overwhelming force. Her authority comes from age **plus** earned understanding. ### 4.2 Confirmed powers | Power | Demonstrated operation | Limits of what is actually established | |---|---|---| | Natural shapeshifting | True fox ↔ familiar woman in ACE 211; additional human female/male guises established for ACE 212. | Not established as limitless transformation into any object, species or exact individual. | | Functional nine tails | Can restrain a strong supernatural foe, immobilize a sword arm, intercept a katana, protect access points and manipulate several things simultaneously. **[ACE 211 ch23]** | Nine tails are not necessarily nine independent spells; no numerical power formula exists. | | Foxfire containment | **Blue-gold foxfire** forms boundaries that restrict supernatural power extending outside a defined area while allowing the captive to breathe and move inside it. **[ch23]** | Not automatically conventional burning fire or universal immunity to all magic. | | Selective sound containment | A compact foxfire enclosure prevents a captive's roar from propagating beyond its defined boundary. **[ch23]** | No established ability to mute an entire city or cancel every sound at will. | | Magical-trail interception | Can locate and **sever the supernatural trace** a tracker follows toward Ace's emerald swords, leaving the being's ordinary memory and identity intact. **[ch23]** | **Not** demonstrated as mind-wiping, general telepathy or mind control. | | Relocation / displacement | Uses a prepared foxfire containment to displace two defeated Oni to a **distant, already selected location**, alive. **[ch23]** | Not established as casual unrestricted worldwide teleportation of anyone anywhere. | | Perception of supernatural beings | Recognizes that disguised visitors are **not human** and evaluates yokai threats that ordinary people misread. **[ch14, ch20, ch23]** | Does not entail omniscience or the ability to identify every supernatural stranger instantly. | | Defensive spatial boundaries | Keeps the rooftop confrontation and pressure away from the vulnerable safehouse and civilians. **[ch23]** | She needs judgment and concentration; no proof the defense works everywhere automatically. | | Force / presence | Her revelation as a nine-tailed fox is enough to profoundly change the behavior of lesser and proud supernatural visitors. **[ch23]** | Social/supernatural authority is not a license to override an intimate partner's will. | ### 4.3 Conditions of use and combat discipline - **Choose the form for the task.** In ACE 211 ch23 she changes from woman to fox *once* to fight, remains a fox through the entire confrontation, and changes back after. **Do not randomly alternate forms mid-fight for visual spectacle.** - **Contain before escalating.** She can kill if defense truly requires it, but demonstrates that removing a threat need not mean killing an enemy or wrecking Night City. - **Protect the uninvolved.** She avoids injuring civilians and damaging the safehouse; ACE 211 explicitly shows this requires care and focus. - **Distinguish ordinary minds from magical links.** Removing a tracking connection is not the same as erasing a creature's history. - **Respect consequences.** She is exceptionally dangerous, **not** a plot-wide reset button. Avoid solving social, institutional or emotional problems merely by declaring a new unlimited magic trick. ### 4.4 Unestablished weaknesses and boundaries — leave open **[OPEN]** What exactly can injure or kill Yukari; whether she ages further; her healing rate; poison/disease interactions; whether ancient wards, rituals, sacred names or material substances affect her; what exhaustion looks like; transformation energy cost; whether she can reproduce another person's chrome; physical limits of nonhuman guises; what sensors can detect. **No default folklore weakness may be imported as canon without a new decision.** **[EDITORIAL]** The absence of a stated vulnerability is not proof of immortality or invulnerability. When a scene needs a limit, establish that limit intentionally and consistently. --- ## 5. Personality, emotional life and inner contradictions ### 5.1 Fundamental traits - **Genuine warmth:** Yukari takes pleasure in people being happy, secure and appreciated. - **Mischievous charm:** enjoys wordplay, watching friends try not to laugh, returning teasing with unexpected elegance, and making a sincere compliment sound dangerously flirtatious. - **Fearsome self-control:** can become quiet, exact and terrifying when someone threatens people who cannot defend themselves. She does not need to shout to be formidable. - **Cultured curiosity:** interested in language, traditions, cooking, old stories and modern inventions; treats Night City as absurd and fascinating, not as a place beneath her. - **Observational intelligence:** reads behavior and social dynamics, but has emotional blind spots where her own heart is concerned. - **Pleasure in the mundane:** coffee, shared breakfasts, books, head scratches in fox form, Marco's cooking, an ordinary date and the delight of receiving a room of her own. - **Vulnerable to kindness:** direct, uncomplicated acceptance affects her more powerfully than displays of force. - **Own will:** being welcomed does not make her servile, childish or automatically compliant. ### 5.2 The emotional paradox Yukari is old enough to understand entire eras and powerful enough to terrify Oni, yet she can blush because Ace pets her tail while asleep, become shy over the word *home*, or feel unexpectedly overcome when invited on a simple date. This contradiction is **the character**, not a problem to flatten. Her historical coping mechanism was to leave before closeness brought loss. Her emerging choice is to live with that risk rather than deny herself love. **Do not write a generic fall-from-grace, forced breakdown or tragedy arc as the price of her happiness.** Emotional conflict, when present, should be specific to *Yukari* and compatible with her established maturity and agency. ### 5.3 Flirtation and adult intimacy **[DECIDED FOR 212]** After a very long interval without physical intimacy, Yukari admits to Ace, Mai and Shammy that she wants to experience it with them. Their mutually desired time together reminds her how wonderful physical love can be. The already playful kitsune becomes **almost shamelessly open about flirting**, especially with Brenda and Iris, **before** anybody discusses Lizzie's. - She is **not** inexperienced, permanently innocent or incapable of knowing her own desire. She has lovers in her past. - She is **not** driven by an uncontrollable species-wide mating compulsion. Her libido and curiosity are **her choices**, and she can say no just as readily as yes. - She can enjoy romance, spontaneous affection, sensuality, dates, and sexual experience **without collapsing them into the same thing**. - Her interest in multiple people does not imply she loves them all identically or that every friendly encounter becomes sexual. - She genuinely enjoys the **other person's enjoyment and agency**. Any supernatural manipulation that overrides consent is forbidden for this storyline. - **[OPEN]** Exact length of her intimacy hiatus, sexual orientations beyond the partners/attractions actually shown, specific preferences/kinks, and any unspoken limits. Do not turn an inviting joke into a nonconsensual claim of access. ### 5.4 In anger or danger A threat to the safehouse, Ace's swords or innocent bystanders evokes **cold focus**. Her humor stops. She demands precise answers. She assesses intent, draws boundaries, and seeks proportionate outcomes. She is capable of a lethal warning and strong action when warranted, but gratuitous sadism would contradict her demonstrated conduct in ACE 211. ### 5.5 Things she does **not** need to prove She does not need to prove that she is a fox, prove she belongs, have a booking, kiss everyone, outflirt everyone, use every power in the same scene, or become a permanent joytoy to matter. Her great power and her everyday tenderness coexist without auditions. --- ## 6. Voice, dialogue and recurring mannerisms **Usual register:** poised conversational English with occasional old-fashioned courteous turns; affectionate and quick-witted, but not artificially archaic. Her vocabulary can be precise without sounding as though she is reciting a history textbook. **Established verbal flavor:** warm terms of endearment such as *darling* and *sweetheart*; delighted, almost theatrical exasperation (*Oh, gods*); unexpected gentle teasing; *Would you like...?*, *May I...?* and other invitations that show she leaves room for answers. **Speech by mood:** | Situation | Yukari sounds like... | Avoid | |---|---|---| | Ordinary family breakfast | Warm, mischievous, delighted by practical jokes | Constant mystical aphorisms | | Private declaration | Vulnerable, direct, surprisingly simple | Grand speeches about destiny | | Flirting with Brenda | Elegant boldness, deliberate provocation, amused admiration | Making Brenda a passive prop | | Talking with Iris | Alert to dry wit, drawn to subtle initiative | Assuming quiet Iris has no desire | | Talking with Shammy | Reflective, unhurried, genuinely curious about another ancient being | Confusing their species, power or identity | | Facing an Oni | Controlled, exact, moral clarity beneath quiet menace | Roaring generic threats or gratuitous cruelty | | Asking about work at Lizzie's | Candid, curious, willing to listen and refuse | Pretending she already knows the profession | | Demonstrating male appearance | Good-humored, mildly reluctant, briefly theatrical | Treating male form as her true identity or default | **Physical tells:** pointed ears turn toward sounds in fox form; tails betray delight, irritation, concentration or affection; a head tilt often precedes a teasing question; when truly moved she may blush, laugh softly, or go momentarily still before finding words. In human form, her signature is an amused, assessing look and a smile that can shift from tender to wicked without becoming a caricature. **[EDITORIAL]** Do not give every character Yukari's polished dialogue. Brenda should remain Brenda; Iris remains Iris; Ace remains Ace; Mai remains Mai; Shammy remains Shammy. Yukari is at her funniest when **their** very different reactions define the moment. --- ## 7. The relationship architecture — no accidental fourth Triad member ### 7.1 The non-negotiable diagram **THE TRIAD:** **Ace + Mai + Shammy**, and **only** these three people. **THE WIDER LOVING FAMILY:** includes **Yukari**, **Iris**, **Brenda**, and others in their extended relationships. This broader bond is real and emotionally profound, but **is not named, counted or treated as an expanded Triad**. - Yukari can love Ace, Mai and Shammy **individually and collectively as beloved partners** without changing the Triad's identity. - Ace/Mai/Shammy's mutual affection and original bond must remain visible whenever all four share a scene. - Yukari must also have storylines that do **not** exist merely as an appendage to those three women. - The family's consensual polyamory is not a constant jealousy crisis. Warmth, personal boundaries and joy in another person's happiness are already established norms. ### 7.2 Character-by-character relationship cards | Person | What Yukari knows / feels | On-page dynamic | Guardrail | |---|---|---|---| | **Ace Watanabe** | Her first powerful attraction in this circle: the petite, violet-eyed, astonishingly capable swordswoman whose kindness and laughter fascinate her. | Banter, affectionate touch, reckless ideas met with amused wisdom; Ace absent-mindedly strokes her tails in fox form. | **Ace is a woman (she/her)**. Mandi is Ace; no automatic neon-orange hair for civilian Ace. Yukari is not replacing Mai or Shammy. | | **Mai** | A woman who makes Yukari feel **understood** and taught her what home means. They have an established individual affectionate connection. | Quiet dates, thoughtful practical kindness, warm intelligence, mutual teasing and tenderness. | Don't reduce Mai to logistics or merely the one who approves Ace's relationships. | | **Shammy / Sera** | An **elemental older than Yukari** and a deeply loving woman who understands time, solitude and choosing love despite loss. | Contemplative outings, playful fox/wind exchanges, kisses, wonder at each other's ways of perceiving the world. | Shammy and Sera are **the SAME person**. She is also deeply in love with Panam and Nadia; their mutual three-person relationship remains distinct from the Ace–Mai–Shammy Triad. | | **Iris Rourke / Nova** | Welcoming family member; her dry humor, warmth and measured confidence become objects of Yukari's attraction. | Subtle wit, deliberate directness, a woman who may decide to act rather than wait. | Married to Brenda. Her relationship with Ace also has its own established history. | | **Brenda / Vega / Jessie O'Sullivan** | Family engineer and confident, irreverent provocateur; Yukari enjoys matching her intelligence and flirting. | Technical curiosity about fox anatomy/physics; fearless teasing; mutual attraction. | Brenda = real person, Vega = joytoy cover, Jessie = separate corporate cover. Do not conflate identities. Married to Iris. | | **Panam Palmer** | Already met Yukari in ACE 211; protective, loving, direct, central to the family's social world. | Blunt practical rules meeting ancient kitsune composure; warm, bawdy humor. | Panam does **not** first meet Yukari in ACE 212. As Madame, she runs the Stable. | | **Nadia** | Already knows Yukari and responds warmly to her happiness. Nadia is a publicly known artist and also a joytoy in Panam's Stable. | Intelligence, frank desire, delight in someone unusual; a caring participant in the broader network. | Nadia calls Panam **Owner** in her pet-role interactions, not Madame. Public Nadia identity is her own. | | **Elisa / Bea** | **[DECIDED FOR 212]** Elisa has **not** met Yukari when she phones about her free long weekend. | First astonishment at nine tails and shapeshifting; develops into Bea mentoring Fox in practical work. | Elisa = Bea, not separate women. Don't retroactively make them old acquaintances. | | **Suzy Q** | **[DECIDED FOR 212]** Professional Lizzie's introduction after Panam's arrival. | Focused, assessing questions and practical discretion. | No unconditional approval because Yukari knows the family; Suzy's authority matters. | | **Lisa / the Moxes** | Lizzie's safety team, relevant once Fox considers work. | Clear rules and real backup. | Respect Lisa's security authority and confidentiality. | | **Kiro / Deja** | Brilliant friend/technician; astonished by the principles behind Yukari's foxfire. | Curiosity, technical discussion, dry humor. | Kiro is a woman; Deja is her joytoy identity. Deja enters together with Dalia when those covers appear. | | **Reyes / Birgitta** | **Already met Yukari in ACE 211 ch29.** Their friendship begins with cautious observation, humor and coffee. | Unforced trust; Reyes sees Yukari as a person, not an anomaly. | Reyes is a woman. Don't repeat her first-ever introduction in ACE 212. | | **Marco** | Cook and friend; his meals and conversations about old recipes delight her. | Comic negotiations over breakfast; centuries-old cooking knowledge. | Marco is not a magical servant or restaurant cliché. | | **Lena** | Welcoming friend, interested in designing clothes for her. | Style and technical curiosity about her chosen looks. | Clothing design still has ordinary practical significance despite shapeshifting. | | **Wakako Okada** | A shared connection exists through the Oni aftermath and the Jig-Jig memorial, but a full **personal first meeting** has **not** been established as complete. | **Future possibility**: two formidable women sizing one another up. | Do not insert that meeting into ACE 212 unless separately requested. | | **Rogue; Mira; Della** | **Future introductions** have been discussed as amusing possibilities. | Rogue's fixer pragmatism; Mira and Della's wonder. | **Not part of ACE 212.** Rogue never appears at routine safehouse breakfasts. | ### 7.3 What affection feels like for her **Ace** wakes delight; **Mai** offers understanding and a sense of home; **Shammy** brings the companionship of another being who remembers the weight of immense spans of time. **Iris** and **Brenda** allow her to discover entirely different kinds of attraction and banter. This variation is essential: Yukari must **not** address everyone with an identical compliment, identical seduction routine or identical emotional response. --- ## 8. Everyday life at the Watson safehouse **[ESTABLISHED]** Yukari has a **personal room**, books, keepsakes, a growing domestic routine, and permission to live in the building. Her choice to sleep in fox form at the foot of the Triad's bed is **voluntary**, affectionate and recurring; it does not remove her own room or reduce her to a pet. Recurring reliable beats: - A **coffee mug** and a seat at the kitchen table feel more meaningful than they should to someone who has lived for millennia. - Marco's food is a source of joy and playful attempts to taste things before they're ready. - The tails take up space in improbable ways. Ace steals a tail to stroke in her sleep; Mai teases them both; Shammy finds the whole spectacle lovely. - Brenda and Kiro can ask intelligent technical questions; Yukari may give partial but sincere answers without being a walking manual for magic. - Her old belongings are precious because **people and memories** mattered, not because they are secret weapons waiting to be activated. - She can be thoughtful and helpful, but is not automatically responsible for all supernatural safehouse security whenever the family sleeps. - The upper safehouse entrance opens **only from the inside**: arrivals must be admitted. **[SERIES CANON]** - The initial “look at the fox” novelty must fade into the ordinary confidence of family life. The wonder remains when an outsider first sees her, but household members already know who she is. --- ## 9. FOX — the planned Lizzie's identity, not yet a completed career ### 9.1 Separation of identities **Yukari O'Sullivan** — her real, chosen family identity; her everyday female human appearance and true fox form are both **Yukari**. **Fox** — **[DECIDED FOR 212]** a carefully chosen, stable female human **cover identity** for discreet participation at Lizzie's. Fox is still Yukari's real mind, judgment, ethics, humor and agency; she is **not** an artificial split personality. **Key advantage:** kitsune shapeshifting, not ChromeLock v2, a face-mesh, cyberware or voice-sculpting. Fox can look unlike Yukari even when unmasked because the **body itself** can change. **Key vulnerability:** secrecy is still a social/operational discipline. Magic does **not** prevent someone from remembering a voice pattern, relationship, location, distinctive habits or a careless conversation. ### 9.2 Cover design principles - One **consistent** face/body/voice combination for Fox; patrons must be able to recognize Fox between visits. - Public persona can be glamorous, mischievous and fully grown, but should **not** rely on telling customers she is a real nine-tailed kitsune. - Her real fox form and her unusual abilities should be shown to trusted people **in private**, not used as a default public nightclub spectacle. - Being able to take a male human guise is a separate talent; she is **not eager** to turn it into her professional signature. - Her cover must not expose Ace↔Mandi, Mai↔Dalia, Kiro↔Deja, Iris↔Nova, Brenda↔Vega/Jessie, Elisa↔Bea, Reyes↔Birgitta or other concealed links. - **[OPEN]** Exact Fox appearance, costume and performance style. Do not presume red/orange hair or cybernetic fox ears from illustrative examples. ### 9.3 The actual first-night chain in ACE 212 This chain is **decided outline**, not yet fictional history: 1. After the initial safehouse relationship arc, **Elisa calls** about a rare free long weekend and possible Lizzie's work nights. She knows **nothing** about Yukari beforehand. 2. Elisa visits the safehouse, meets Yukari as a woman, and sees the real **nine-tailed fox**. 3. Mai mentions that Yukari can choose **many human forms**. Yukari gladly demonstrates multiple female appearances and, because friends ask, a **male** one; she returns to the appearance she prefers. 4. Elisa explains her role as **Bea**; Yukari becomes curious about joytoy work and chooses to explore Fox as a cover rather than automatically registering for shifts. 5. At Lizzie's, **Bea mentors Fox** and allows her to watch the friends' **different** interactions and the alternate identities Mandi, Dalia, Deja, Nova and Vega in appropriate, cover-safe circumstances. 6. **Madame Panam arrives with Nadia and Sera**. Sera is Shammy, not another woman. 7. **Only after Panam's arrival** are Fox's formal meeting with **Suzy Q** and the professional rules/orientation handled. 8. Fox considers a **single voluntary client**. The first prospective client is not a good fit; she declines. Later she may choose one mutually interested, respectful client. 9. Bea remains the **first-night mentor**; Suzy governs the club's operational rules; Lisa/Moxes provide security; Panam oversees the Stable and Fox's suitability for that arrangement. 10. Fox can stop, rest or decline. One booking is an experiment, not a lifelong obligation. ### 9.4 Work, consent and independence - She explores joytoy work because she is **curious and interested in pleasure, relationships and her friends' professional lives**, not because the family needs money, a covert assignment or supernatural infiltration. - **No client is entitled** to her affection, shapeshifting or an audience with her true fox form. - Her choices as Fox are Yukari's choices. She may enjoy a booking without taking another. - She never uses supernatural coercion or a hidden manipulation power to acquire sexual consent. - A patient, genuine connection matters more than novelty or the customer's ability to offer a large sum. - The reader should see **real work practices**, boundaries, preparation and support; Fox's desirability does not make the staff irrelevant. - There is no prearranged “all clients / all disguises” montage. Her individual curiosity determines the next meaningful step. ### 9.5 Cover / knowledge matrix | Circle | Knowledge at the start of ACE 212 | Privacy discipline | |---|---|---| | Triad and informed safehouse family | Know Yukari's true kitsune nature from ACE 211 or as separately established; know their own covers. | Do not discuss identities in earshot of visitors, security feeds or patrons. | | Panam and Nadia | Already familiar with Yukari and her fox nature from ACE 211; Panam later evaluates **Fox** for the Stable. | Distinguish private knowledge from what may be announced at Lizzie's. | | Elisa | **Does not know Yukari yet.** Her first meeting and fox/multiple-form demonstration happen in ACE 212. | Elisa learns privately, then mentors Fox as Bea. | | Suzy Q | Formal Fox meeting occurs after Panam arrives in ACE 212. She has established trust with friends' cover arrangements. | Fox's magic and family connection are private operational information. | | Ordinary Lizzie's clients and strangers | Know the public-facing **Fox** only, if they meet her. | They are **not** told that Fox = Yukari O'Sullivan = actual kitsune or who the other joytoys are behind their covers. | | Rogue, Wakako, Mira, Della | Some know parts of the broader story for their own reasons; personal Fox / Yukari introductions are **not canonically completed in ACE 212**. | No surprise revelation, no unplanned crossover into the 212 outline. | --- ## 10. ACE 212 character arc and continuity beats ### ACT I — Warmth remembered The emotional opening is **not** a power test. Yukari admits she is hungry for closeness after an exceptionally long period without it. Ace, Mai and Shammy each approach her as an equal partner. She rediscovers physical joy and emerges more openly flirtatious without becoming heedless. Brenda accepts and answers the challenge. Iris, watching Brenda and Yukari kiss, gives Ace **the look** Ace knows so well from Specialist Camp and their subsequent date; Iris deliberately takes Ace into a **long kiss**. **Ace is a woman.** No casually imported neon-orange civilian hair. Yukari invites Iris and Brenda into distinct, personal connections. ### ACT II — Elisa meets the impossible Elisa is initially unaware Yukari exists; first the gentle family welcome, then the **true nine-tailed fox**, then a demonstration of many human guises including a briefly used male form. Elisa's questions about ChromeLock/face-mesh provide a natural path toward Lizzie's. The distinction between **Yukari** and **Fox** becomes a deliberate plan. ### ACT III — The other faces of Lizzie's Bea introduces Fox to workaday joytoy life and the different styles of Mandi, Dalia, Deja, Nova and Vega. Madame Panam **then** arrives with Nadia and Sera. **Only then** does Suzy conduct Fox's formal introduction and rule briefing. Panam meets **Fox-in-the-making**, not Yukari for the first time. ### ACT IV — One client, by choice Fox demonstrates that she can refuse and that an interesting meeting can lead to one consent-based professional booking. Her power stays discreet. Her confidence is personal, not the result of a magic shortcut. Bea and Panam provide care afterward; she returns to safehouse life freely. ### ACT V — Countless tomorrows A long weekend broadens her friendship with Elisa and her understanding of the Stable. Nobody forces a second booking or a fixed career. Iris and Brenda continue responding as individuals; the story closes with Yukari still having a family and still retaining many possibilities. **Narrative priority:** the story starts as **Yukari's rediscovery of love and pleasure**; Fox's working world follows naturally. Do not begin with a joytoy recruitment plot, and do not erase the intimate family arc because the nightclub is more visually spectacular. --- ## 11. Scene design guide — how to keep Yukari herself ### Scenes that suit her 1. **A quiet morning** in which nine tails and one coffee mug create a logistics problem more entertaining than an expensive action sequence. 2. **A thoughtful date** with Mai or Shammy in which long life makes small experiences precious, not boring. 3. **A duel of wit** with Brenda that ends with both women unexpectedly delighted by the other. 4. **A slow conversation with Iris** that reveals desire beneath quiet composure. 5. **An outsider's first reaction** to her fox form — delight, skepticism or alarm — followed by Yukari setting the tone herself. 6. **A precise defensive act** that shows she has much greater power than the opponent realized, with minimum harm to bystanders. 7. **A professional first-night decision** in which saying *no* is as real an exercise of freedom as saying *yes*. 8. **A memory of a lost friend** grounded in an object, recipe or name rather than a mandatory tragic flashback. ### Scenes that do not suit her - Arbitrary kitsune biology suddenly dictating what she desires or whom she must obey. - An unexplained “fox scent” that automatically compels sexual attraction. - Treating nine tails as nine decorative ribbons when a scene requires physical action. - Making her speak only in cryptic riddles or mock-archaic wisdom. - Reducing her to a helpless ingénue because she's exploring a contemporary form of intimacy. - Replacing someone else's expertise with *magic solves everything*, especially Suzy's work rules, Lisa's security, Brenda and Kiro's technical judgment or Mai's planning. - Inventing or narrowing Yukari’s intentionally undisclosed age (even with a count of millennia), or inventing a magical weakness, pregnancy biology or ancient curse without a separate decision. - Presenting Fox as an established joytoy prior to ACE 212's voluntary trial. - Presenting Yukari as a **fourth member of the Triad**. ### Optional voice anchors — illustrative only, not quoted canon > “Darling, I have encountered more foolish men than I care to count. I think I can manage one honest question.” > > “I can become a man if you insist. I simply don't see why I should stay that way.” > > “No, sweetheart. The tails are real. Yes, you may ask to touch them.” > > “I haven't decided whether I want to do it again. Isn't it rather wonderful that I get to decide?” --- ## 12. Editorial continuity checklist — DO NOT BREAK - [ ] **Triad = Ace, Mai, Shammy only.** Yukari is a beloved member of the **wider family**. - [ ] **Ace is a woman, she/her**. Mandi is her joytoy cover; don't import Mandi's neon-orange hair into Ace's ordinary appearance without a scene-specific reason. - [ ] **Yukari is a woman, she/her** even though she can assume male form. She generally prefers a feminine presentation. - [ ] Yukari's usual human form is **dark-haired**; her nine-tailed fox has **russet / cream / gold fur**. Exact measurements and eye color remain open. - [ ] In fox form she is a **true fox**, and **all nine tails are genuine, active and useful**. - [ ] Shapeshifting is **natural**. **No ChromeLock v2 or face-mesh** for Yukari/Fox. - [ ] **Fox** is a stable, deliberately distinct female human cover; her exact visual design is **not yet locked**. - [ ] **Fox is not a working joytoy before her 212 introduction**. One first booking, if accepted, is self-directed and does not commit her to future work. - [ ] **Shammy = Sera**, not two different women. Panam and Nadia already know Yukari from ACE 211. - [ ] **Elisa = Bea**; Elisa first meets Yukari during the long-weekend safehouse visit in 212, not earlier. - [ ] **Panam arrives with Nadia and Sera before Suzy's formal Fox meeting and orientation.** - [ ] Suzy runs club operations, Panam leads the Stable, Lisa/Moxes provide security. None is bypassed due to family connections or magic. - [ ] **Dalia = Mai; Deja = Kiro**, and Dalia/Deja arrive together. **Nova = Iris; Vega = Brenda; Jessie O'Sullivan = Brenda's separate corporate persona**. - [ ] **Birgitta = Reyes; Anna = Imani; Mandi = Ace; Bea = Elisa; Sera = Shammy; Nadia is Nadia**. Kiro and Reyes are women. - [ ] Yukari sees cover identities **privately and under cover-safe conditions**. Clients do not automatically learn those people's real names or the kitsune secret. - [ ] Yukari can create a **male** human guise but is not especially fond of it; it is demonstrated because friends ask. - [ ] One intentional transformation during ACE 211's safehouse rooftop defense; **no spontaneous fox/human flip-flopping in combat**. - [ ] Foxfire in ACE 211 is demonstrably used for **containment and controlled displacement**, not simply ordinary destructive flame. - [ ] No default unlimited teleportation, mind control, all-knowing perception, immortality or inherited folklore vulnerabilities. - [ ] She **chose O'Sullivan** as a sign of belonging, not as a spouse's surname. Public legal paperwork remains deliberately separate from the private safehouse record unless confirmed later. - [ ] She has **her own room**; sleeping at the Triad's bed-foot in fox form is her welcome, voluntary ritual. - [ ] Her scenes preserve play, meaningful individual chemistry, agency, respect for others' relationships and the genuine emotional weight of finally staying. - [ ] **Wakako, Rogue, Mira and Della first-meeting stories remain future material**; do not insert them into ACE 212 without a new decision. - [ ] Safehouse upstairs entry is **inside-opened only**; Rogue does not come to safehouse breakfasts. --- ## 13. Questions still open — deliberate design ledger These are **not defects** in the sheet. They are areas where canon hasn't been decided and where the writer must not silently substitute a guess. 1. **Age — deliberately never quantified:** Yukari has lived for **millennia** and is younger than Shammy. The *number* of millennia, precise age, birth date, calculable range and datable starting period must remain **unrevealed**, not merely undecided. Neither narration, character dialogue, flashbacks, metadata nor a future sheet should quietly pin them down. 2. **Birth/origin:** specific place, family, childhood and the route by which Yukari gained her tails remain unknown. 3. **Appearance locks for usual human form:** exact height, eye color, haircut, body proportions and fixed visual identifiers. 4. **Fox cover design:** height, body, facial structure, hair/eyes, voice, wardrobe, working aesthetic and any public-facing biography. 5. **Supernatural taxonomy:** precise range of other animal guises or object transformations, if any. 6. **Magic mechanics:** depletion, recharge, failure conditions and whether restraints/sensors can detect her changes. 7. **Physical vulnerability and mortality:** none explicitly fixed; she is neither canonically invulnerable nor canonically subject to a particular folklore weakness. 8. **Historical lovers and losses:** names, dates, places and relationship details not yet fixed. 9. **Public records:** the exact legal path, if any, that might later attach O'Sullivan to Yukari's public papers. 10. **Long-term Fox status:** she has an optional first-client plan, **not** a pre-decided permanent job; future bookings, clientele and boundaries remain hers to decide in the story. **Do not silently fill these gaps with invented canon.** When a gap matters to a scene, agree a decision and update this sheet and the master continuity reference together. --- ## 14. Source and precedence register **Primary examined source:** `ACE_211_THERE_CAN_BE_ONLY_ONE_PASS.md`, 30 chapters, especially: - **Ch14–20:** rooftop observer, encounters and introduction of Yukari; early attraction; extraordinary beings. - **Ch21–22:** invitation, trust, first household impressions. - **Ch23 — Nine Tails, No Permission:** true fox description, physical tails, foxfire containment, removal of a magical tracking trail, displacement and restraint. - **Ch24–25:** everyday fox form, intimate family acceptance, appearance, humor and friendship. - **Ch26 — Two Ancient Souls:** friendship/romance with Shammy, the emotional history of loss and leaving, the process of gaining nine tails, perspective on love. - **Ch27–29:** moving into the safehouse, ordinary domestic life, histories with Ace, Mai and Reyes, personal keepsakes. - **Ch30 — Nine Tails, One Home:** chosen surname, distinction between household and public identity, established home. **Secondary planning source:** `ACE_212_NINE_TAILS_COUNTLESS_LOVERS_SKELETON.md`, 32-chapter working outline, corrected ACT III sequence. **Later explicit user decisions overriding ambiguous earlier assistant wording:** - **Yukari belongs to the wider family, not to the Triad.** - **Fox is a prospective joytoy identity, not an “artist” substitute or automatically a professional from day one.** - **Natural shapeshifting replaces all ChromeLock/face-mesh requirements.** - **Multiple human guises include male form, demonstrated voluntarily though not personally favored.** - **ACE 212 begins with private familial intimacy and escalating mutual flirtation; Elisa's long-weekend call starts the Lizzie's sequence.** - **Formal Suzy meeting and rules occur after Panam's arrival with Nadia and Sera.** **Status:** Character sheet v1.1, comprehensive **working** reference. Verified existing facts are written as such; planned future beats and remaining open design choices are deliberately marked. Canon is not extended by the creation of this file alone.
